Rotarians Building a Fence at The Lodge of Townsend

Townsend Rotarian Tina Homann purchased and renovated the local Masonic Hall and created The Lodge of Townsend.  The Lodge was created to be a community building hosting events, community theatre, teen room, and meeting venue.  The most important use of The Lodge was to provide the community with a pre-school/daycare.  

Interact Club helps with historic Canton Church Cleanup

This spring the local Townsend Rotary Interact Club was approached by  Canton Church Restoration, Inc to help with the annual spring cleanup at the historic Church.  The Canton Church group offered to pay the Interact Club members the same rate that Townsend Rotary hires the Club to work at Fall Fest.

The Interact Club countered the Cantor Church offer -- they offered to help with the cleanup for free!

Shawna Secker, District 5390 Secretary, Visits Townsend Rotary

Shawna Secker, Rotary District 5390 Secretary, visited Townsend on May 7,2019.  Pat Plantenberg and Mary Mystic hosted Shawna at their home overnight. During her visit Shawna had a tour of Townsend highlighting the many Rotary projects throughout town. 

After touring the Rotary projects Shawna donned her work clothes and helped Pat plant trees at Vic and Pam Sample's home. She did it all: drove Pat's Kubota tractor, pounded fence posts and dug in the dirt. It looked like Shawna had a great time helping Pat!

Interact Club Sponsors Trivia and Tacos to Raise Money for Guatemala Trip

Nine Interact Club members from Townsend are going to Guatemala in June. Interact is a Rotary sponsored community based youth service organization with over 20 students from Broadwater High School. The students will travel to Guatemala for over a week to work on a service project with Maya Pedal, visit Rotary water projects in the area, and tour some Mayan ruins. To help pay for the trip, the Interact and Rotary Clubs are sponsoring a Trivia and All You Can Eat Taco Night at the Fairgrounds 4H Building on Saturday May 11.

New Interact Members Inducted

(Townsend May 5) On May 5th, The Interact Club, a Rotary sponsored community youth service organization, inducted three new members: Zoey Wickens, Hanna Burdick, and Carson LeLacheur. The Interact Club is a community-based youth Rotary Club for students ages 12-18. Rotarian, Jennifer Lane is the Club Advisor.

Interact Club Conducts Freshman Leadership/Team Training at BHS

On April 18th, the Townsend Rotary sponsored Interact Club hosted a Broadwater High School (BHS) Freshman Class Leadership Training/Team Building event at BHS. The purpose of the event was to continue the Freshman Class training conducted at the beginning of the school year by the Interact Club.

The Rotary Club of Townsend has survived since 1939 and has become the club to go to if something needs to be done in our community. Rotary is always looking for potential new members to continue that tradition. Many service organizations like Rotary are struggling to find new energetic members. Fortunately, two more new Rotary member have been recruited in Townsend.

Rotary has Holiday Party on Jan 12, 2019 at Holy Cross Parish

The Holiday Party last Saturday (Jan 24,2019) was a great success! Rex did a great job of preparing steak and fowl and we got rid of drinks left over from Fall Fest --  WOO HOO!

The only questionable thing about the party is how badly we sang Karaoke. WHEW! I hope no one had nightames after all the off-key sining we did!  And Bill, I hope Barb didn't make you walk home after that serenade....

Jenni Bonser joins Townsend Rotary

Montana's only Astronaut speaks at Townsend Rotary

(Townsend December 1) On November 27, Loren Acton, the only Montana-born astronaut spoke to the Rotary Club. Loren was born in the Lewistown, Montana area and explained to the Club how a small town boy from Montana was able to grow up and become a crew member on the Challenger. Loren was educated at Montana State University and eventually received a doctorate in solar physics. He was charged with taking x-ray pictures of the sun and showed the Club some of the pictures he took from space.
