Townsend Trivia Night Funds Interact Scholarship

On Thursday November 2, the Helena Sunrise Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Townsend sponsored Trivia Night at the American Legion in Townsend to raise money for an Interact Scholarship for a Townsend Interact Club student.  The Rotary Club of Townsend is currently helping form a brand new Interact Club for Townsend Youth.  Two of the potential new Interact Club students attended Trivia Night.

Broadwater County History Presentation - Nov 7th

Native Broadwater County resident, Vic Sample will present a talk on Broadwater County history, Tuesday November 7, in the Community Room on the Townsend schools campus.  Vic recently presented the talk to the 7th graders at Townsend Schools at the Canton Church.  People who heard his talk have asked him to present it to the general public.  Please join us at 7 pm.  Snacks and refreshments will be served.

Fall Fest 2017 Starts Friday September 29th

Local business are decorated, jumbotrons are running, and “Tow Mater” and the other bale creations are up.  It’s time for the Townsend Rotary Club Fall Fest!  Friday, in Heritage Fun Park, local Rotarians, spouses, friends, volunteers, and vendors will be setting up a stage, canopies, and tents to entertain the public and sell their wares.  The Rotary Club has been a major provider of entertainment in Broadwater County since 1939.

Fall Fest Ag Bale Decorating Contest

The Rotary Club of Townsend is sponsoring a bale decorating contest again this year to help publicize the Townsend Fall Fest September 29-October 1.  The only requirements are that any signs with the creation must include the word “bale”, “hay” or “straw” and that the creation must be in Broadwater County.  Rotary also wants to post a banner announcing Fall Fest alongside your creation.  Three winners will be selected with prizes of $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place.  Please try to have the creations completed by September 2

August Slice of Summer hosts the News

Slice of Summer Host’s the News.

The final Slice of Summer of the season is headed to be the best.  Townsend will be host to ABC Fox Montana’s Hometown Proud series for the August 17th News broadcast. Reporters have been interviewing local individuals and collecting regional stories. Slice of Summer is a community-sponsored family fun event held on the third Thursday of June, July, and August each year at Heritage Fun Park. 

Women In Rotary

In 2017, Rotary celebrated the contributions of Rotary Women Members.  Ross Johnson awarded 4 outstanding Townsend Women Rotarians with special "Women In Rotary" pins.

Recognized for their outstanding contributions to the local Rotary were Laura Obert (2 time Rotary president), Jean Sautter, Beth Ihle (first Townsend Rotary Woman President) and Judy Schenk.

Rotarians Celebrate Joe Coyne's 70th birthday

Townsend Rotarians gathered together at the American Legion Club to celebrate fellow Rotarian Joe Coyne's 70th birthday.

Under intense questioning, Joe revealed that he was born in New York City. After serving in the millitary, Joe returned to to NYC and applied to Columbia University under the GI bill. He was accepted and earned a degree at the prestigious Ivy League school.
