Creating a Lasting Legacy
On October 22, Jill Flynn and the "Bulldogs for Britain" team attended the Townsend Rotary Club for helping fund their upcoming trip to England. Ronnie Steele and Taylor Noyes thanked Rotary for their support and for paying the "Bulldogs for Britain" group for helping at the Slice of Summer events and for working at Fall Fest.

(Townsend November 18) The Rotary Club of Townsend has survived since 1939 and has become the club to go to if something needs to be done in our community. Rotary is always looking for potential new members to continue that tradition. Many service organizations like Rotary are struggling to find new energetic members. Fortunately, another new young Rotary member has been recruited in Townsend.
On Tuesday, September 24th, Montana Rotary District 5390 Governor Sandy Wong from Billings visited Townsend. She was given a tour of local Rotary and Interact projects, met with the Rotary Club of Townsend Board of Directors, and spoke to the Rotary membership at their regular meeting at the Mint Café.
Townsend Rotarian Tina Homann purchased and renovated the local Masonic Hall and created The Lodge of Townsend. The Lodge was created to be a community building hosting events, community theatre, teen room, and meeting venue. The most important use of The Lodge was to provide the community with a pre-school/daycare.
This spring the local Townsend Rotary Interact Club was approached by Canton Church Restoration, Inc to help with the annual spring cleanup at the historic Church. The Canton Church group offered to pay the Interact Club members the same rate that Townsend Rotary hires the Club to work at Fall Fest.
The Interact Club countered the Cantor Church offer -- they offered to help with the cleanup for free!
Shawna Secker, Rotary District 5390 Secretary, visited Townsend on May 7,2019. Pat Plantenberg and Mary Mystic hosted Shawna at their home overnight. During her visit Shawna had a tour of Townsend highlighting the many Rotary projects throughout town.
After touring the Rotary projects Shawna donned her work clothes and helped Pat plant trees at Vic and Pam Sample's home. She did it all: drove Pat's Kubota tractor, pounded fence posts and dug in the dirt. It looked like Shawna had a great time helping Pat!
