On May 1st and 2nd the Townsend Rotary Club presented the Rotary Variety show at the Townsend 4H building at the Fairgrounds. The show featured was written and directed by Judy Williams and featured many memorable performances by local residents. The theme of the show was the 50s and all of the cast (and some of the audience) were all in 50s attire.
According to Rotary President Pat Platenburg "The show used to be called a Talent Show; but, we discovered that while we had a lot of variety in the show there was very little talent so the show is now called the Rotary Variety Show".
On entry to the Variety show entrants were asked to "hopscotch" into the 50s'. It was a lot of fun and got people in the mood for the evening.
While the show was intended to be a community service, the show did make a profit and the proceeds were all donated to the Townsend Splash Park project currently being planned.
