 Governor Bullock Presents Rotary Longevity AwardsAt the Rotary Club of Townsend 75th Anniversary Celebration on August 27th, Governor Steve Bullock presented two special Rotary awards.  Mel Pottruff was a member of the Rotary Club of Townsend since 1963, a Past President of the Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, and Club Treasurer for 39 years.  Mel passed away in 2015 before the Club could present him with his 51-year pin.  Governor Bullock presented Mel’s 51-year pin to Mel’s longtime partner, Lilian Guthrie, at the anniversary celebration.  Lilian says she will proudly wear Mel’s pin whenever

Rotary District Governor Visits Townsend

 

The Montana Rotary District 5390 Governor, Bill Spath from Butte, and his lovely wife Mary Lou, visited the Rotary Club of Townsend on September 1.  Bill is a member of the Butte Rotary Club which celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2015.  Bill also teaches at Montana Tech.

Kellie Goodwin McBride is a Townsend Rotarian that was born and raised in Helena.  Kellie is related to the Broadwater County Goodwin's and she has great childhood memories of summers she spent on her grandparents ranch in Broadwater County. As a teenager growing up in Helena, Kellie yearned for the glamour and excitement of a large city -- specifically Los Angeles.

Spotlight on Stewart Nash - surveyor, historian, author and Rotarian

Stewart Nash was schooled in Preston, Idaho and later in Twin Bridges, Montana.  At the age of 17, Stewart began surveying and became a licensed surveyor at the age of 30. After trying his hand at sales, services for realtors and microcomputers, he kept coming back to what he knew best - surveying. Stewart has worked all over the Northwest USA and Canada.
