Rotary and Interact Paint the Townsend Senior Center
(Townsend April 19) The Rotary Club of Townsend wanted to paint the inside of the Senior Center as part of a Montana Rotary District 5390 grant for Fiscal Year 2019-2020. Small portions of the walls were cleaned, and test splotches were painted with variable colors and the Seniors picked their favorite color. Dates were set to remove articles and start cleaning walls. The dates were cancelled due to the COVID-19 shelter-at-home order.
On April 14th, the Club successfully negotiated with Rocky Mountain Development Council and established cleaning and painting protocols to let 3-4 people into the Center at a time over a weekend to complete the project during the shutdown. All walls cleaned and painted by Rotarians, Rotarian spouses, and members of the Rotary youth community-based Interact Club on April 17-19.

Interact gives students ages 12-18 the chance to make a real difference while having fun. Every Interact Club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. The Interact Club is sponsored by the local Rotary Club of Townsend. When you sponsor an Interact club, you’re helping young people: connect with community leaders, develop leadership skills, make international connections, and discover more opportunities to connect with Rotary, including Rotaract (students ages 18-30), Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), and Youth Exchange.
