The August Slice of Summer had all of the traditional Slice of Summer kids events with a Bouncy House, Climbing Wall, Treasure Hunt, Face Painting and free swimming. Music was provided by Rotary while the Lions Club, Rotary and Townsend 4H clubs all provided food.
However, the August Slice of Summer was a much bigger event with the performance of The Cold Hard Cash Show and Great American Heroes on a big event stage. Rotary opened a beer booth for the August Slice of Summer.
Hundreds of people crowded the park enjoying the balmy afternoon weather, enjoying the food and allowing the kids to play on the Climbing Wall and Bouncy House or participate in the face painting.
Unfortunately, while the afternoon weather was absolutely perfect for the August Slice of Summer, we saw an evening thunderstorm come and cut the evening short. The Cold Hard Cash Show had to quit about half way through their performance due to rain and lightening while the crowd dwindled to just a few die hards gathering under the pavilion roof.
