On Sunday Oct. 23, 2016 the Helena Independent Record Record featured local Rotarian Pat Plantenburg in an article as part of the "Making Your Mark" articles written by Al Knauber.

Take a drive in town and you’ll see what Patrick Plantenberg’s volunteerism contributed to his community.

Streetscapes, parks and community buildings all benefited from the volunteerism that he’s helped to foster. He had a role in the creation of the welcome to Townsend rock with its sculpture on the east side of town too.

There’s ample evidence what he and others have contributed to their town.

“It’s not just me,” Patrick said. “I do a lot of the coordination.”

“We get the youth involved. We get the parents involved. We get the service clubs and we get a lot done,” he explained.

He came to Montana in 1968 to attend Montana State University. Mary Mistek – they’ve been married since 1991 – arrived the year of their marriage. Both came from a small community in central Minnesota. He lived in town. She lived on a farm.
