Slice of Summer Host’s the News.
The final Slice of Summer of the season is headed to be the best. Townsend will be host to ABC Fox Montana’s Hometown Proud series for the August 17th News broadcast. Reporters have been interviewing local individuals and collecting regional stories. Slice of Summer is a community-sponsored family fun event held on the third Thursday of June, July, and August each year at Heritage Fun Park.
Slice of Summer includes activities that run from 3:00-8:00 pm. Youth activities include free use of the swimming pool, inflatable obstacle course, hoop zone, and the bouncy room, etc. The Elkhorn Community Fellowship Church is providing the Climbing Wall again this year. Face painting will again be available. Family activities include free musical entertainment and reasonably priced food and drink. Bike Walk Montana will also be hosting a Bike Rodeo from 5:00-6:00, participants will need a bicycle and helmet to participate.
Food and drinks starting mid-afternoon (3PM) will be provided again for families through 8 pm. Music begins at 5 pm with Brett Veltri & the Sleeping Giants from 5 to 6:30 pm, and ShoDown finishing the evening from 6:30 to 8 pm. We are excited to have ShoDown back to Townsend, and they will be playing again from the Severson Productions Stage.
Slice of Summer started after Broadwater County High School students mentioned in interviews for Rotary scholarships that Townsend needed some fun event for families like the Alive at Five event in Helena.
