The Rotary Club of Townsend is sponsoring a bale decorating contest again this year to help publicize the Townsend Fall Fest September 29-October 1. The only requirements are that any signs with the creation must include the word “bale”, “hay” or “straw” and that the creation must be in Broadwater County. Rotary also wants to post a banner announcing Fall Fest alongside your creation. Three winners will be selected with prizes of $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. Slice of Summer Host’s the News.
The final Slice of Summer of the season is headed to be the best. Townsend will be host to ABC Fox Montana’s Hometown Proud series for the August 17th News broadcast. Reporters have been interviewing local individuals and collecting regional stories. Slice of Summer is a community-sponsored family fun event held on the third Thursday of June, July, and August each year at Heritage Fun Park.

In 2017, Rotary celebrated the contributions of Rotary Women Members. Ross Johnson awarded 4 outstanding Townsend Women Rotarians with special "Women In Rotary" pins.
Recognized for their outstanding contributions to the local Rotary were Laura Obert (2 time Rotary president), Jean Sautter, Beth Ihle (first Townsend Rotary Woman President) and Judy Schenk.

Townsend Rotarians gathered together at the American Legion Club to celebrate fellow Rotarian Joe Coyne's 70th birthday.
Under intense questioning, Joe revealed that he was born in New York City. After serving in the millitary, Joe returned to to NYC and applied to Columbia University under the GI bill. He was accepted and earned a degree at the prestigious Ivy League school.

The August 2017 Slice-of-Summer will again feature a "children's" slice of summer from 1:00pm - 5:00pm and an "adult's" slice of summer from 5:00 - 8:00pm.

Slice of Summer is a community-sponsored family fun event held on the third Thursday of June, July, and August each year at Heritage Fun Park. Mark your calendars-this year’s Slice of Summer dates are June 15, July 20, and August 17.

On June 4, 2017 a delegation of Tasmanians visited Townsend as part of a Rotary Friendship Exchange. The Tasmanian Exchange team representing Rotary District 9830 was here ro re-kindle friendships recently made during the visit to Tasmania by the Montana Friendship Exchange team. The ongoing association between our town districts is a testament to the wonderful world of Rotary.

(Townsend) (June 15) — Skeeter the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus clown is coming to Townsend on June 21st!
Skeeter will be promoting the June 28th Townsend Circus and will be visiting the swimming pool, local daycare facilities, the Senior Center, the Broadwater Health Center, etc. If you have a location that Skeeter needs to visit please call Patrick Plantenberg at 431-4615.
